Trivia

Cass McCombs has made the somewhat macabre statement that he already knows what his tombstone will read. What has he said it will say?

The answer is that McCombs has stated that his tombstone will read, "Home At Last," which is fittingly poetic for this soulful songwriter.

About the Artist

Cass McCombs was born in 1977 in Concord, CA. Like many a musician before him, McCombs led a life spent traveling from town to town and sleeping wherever he found procure a bed or a couch that would house him for a night or two. That kind of experience is often fuel for the creative fire that inspires great songwriting, and for McCombs this was no different. After spending some time in New York, due to financial issues McCombs was forced to return home to Northern California. It was in San Francisco that he recorded his debut E.P., Not the Way E.P. in 2002. He released his first full-length record, A, the following year. The release enabled McCombs and his band to embark on their first tour shortly thereafter. Since, McCombs has released several EPs and LPs and has continued to tour the country and rest of the world.

Breakthrough

Cass McCombs experienced his breakthrough with his first LP, A, in 2003. The release gave the then-struggling musician some credibility and recognition that enabled him to begin touring and set the stage for a solid career in the indie scene that continues to this day.
