Champions Reconvene at the Champions Challenge
The Champions Challenge is an exciting event for any lover of tennis.
This one-night-only event on March 12, 2014 will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, where tennis
legends will their take part in historical "Super Saturday" semifinal matches from the 1984 U.S. Open.
the Champions Challenge, tennis greats Pat Cash, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors will get together to recreate
the two matches once played at the 1984 U.S Open Tennis Tournament. Champions Challenge Tickets will give you access to three
matches: Cash versus Lendl and McEnroe versus Connors, then the winners who will play against each other in the finals.
The Champions Challenge is part of the 12-city PowerShares Series Tennis circuit for legend tennis players
older than 30. This specific Champions Challenge recreates the historic "Super Saturday," which took place September 8, 1984.
That "Super Saturday," which is considered by many tennis enthusiast as the greatest day in all of tennis history, saw Lendl
defeated Cash with a smashing forehand shot that thrust the ball right over Cash's head and McEnroe beat Connors, which resulted

The players playing in The Champions Challenge are some of the most victorious in the history
of tennis. The 1984 U.S. Open marked McEnroe's fifteenth career grand slam and his seventh U.S. Open title including singles
and doubles. Each match played on Super Saturday was the maximum number of sets, and all eight players that played that day
would go on to win at least one grand slam and be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The broadcast of the
day, which appeared on CBS, was the longest continuous coverage of a sporting. There were a whopping 979 points played on
Super Saturday. The 1984 U.S. Open marked not only John McEnroe's final U.S. Open title, but also his last Grand Slam title
of his whole career.
