Charles Koche Arena History
Charles Koche Arena is home to the Wichita State University Shockers men's and women's
college basketball teams and as such is one of the most electric venues in the country. In the past two seasons the Shockers

Charles Koche Arena Events
In addition to being home to the men's and women's
college basketball teams of Wichita State University, Charles Koche Arena is also home to the university's women's volleyball
team. The arena also hosts numerous high school athletics events including high school basketball games and the Class 6A Kansas
state wrestling championship. Charles Koche Arena is active year-round being used for several other events outside of basketball
and high school athletics including concerts, circuses, American Idol Live, and ice skating exhibitions like Champions on

Charles Koche Arena was opened in 1955 when it was known as the University
of Wichita Field House. This name lasted until 1964 when it was changed to the WSU Field House. In 1969 the venue was again
renamed and became Levitt Arena up until 2003 when it was renovated and renamed for Charles Koche who donated a 6 million
dollar endowment to help pay for the 25 million dollar renovations.
