Charleston Classic Schedule
The Charleston Classic is a preseason college basketball tournament that was first
played in 2008 and continues to quickly grow in popularity each year. Eight teams make up the field for the tournament with
the losers of the opening games moving into a losers bracket. The Charleston Classic features some of the best preseason college
basketball to be found anywhere and college hoops fans from all over the country will be coming to Charleston to be a part
of all the excitement. The Charleston Classic is one of the most popular tournaments in all of college basketball and tickets

again the Charleston Classic will be held at the TD Arena, one of the top sporting venues in all of South Carolina. The 2014
tournament boasts an impressive field and will unfold from November 20th through the 23rd. The opening round will feature
four exciting games as USC takes on Akron, Drexel goes up against Miami, Penn State battles Charlotte, and Cornell has a big
game against South Carolina. The winners of the opening games advance to the winners bracket and continue their quest for
the championship the following day during semifinals while the losers remain alive in a consolation bracket. Those fortunate
and talented enough to win on the second day advance for the title game on the 23rd. Each year some of the most exciting games
of the college basketball season take place during the Charleston Classic so be sure to make all of the appropriate plans
to be in Charleston, South Carolina in late November.
Charleston Classic History
The Charleston Classic
has been held since 2008 and has had some of the best teams in college basketball participating in the event every year. Past
winners of the tournament include Clemson, Miami, Georgetown, Northwestern, Colorado, and the reigning 2013 champions, UMASS.

first put together a basketball team in 1965 and experienced success early on. Back in 1977, it really came together for the
Charlotte 49ers, as they ran through their conference and even ended up taking a swing at a national championship. With such
an impressive program that knows how to dominate their opponents, the 49ers have put together plenty of memorable seasons,
