The band was formed by a group of high school buddies in Hermosa Beach in 1988. They quickly developed a following in the local surfer and skate punk culture. By 1990, they word-of-mouth landed them a contract with Epitaph, and their self-titled debut was issued in 1991. Despite band member rotations and the tragic suicide of frontman Jason Thirsk, the band’s popularity hasn’t waned.
The band’s most recent album, 2008’s “Reason to Believe,” touched on plenty of controversial topics—nothing the band has been a stranger to in the past.
