Charlie Hunter grew up in Berkley, California with a mother who repaired guitars for a living. Hunter got his first guitar when he was 12-years-old and took lessons from Joe Satriani. After Hunter graduated from Berkley High School, he found his calling in jazz. In the late '80s, Hunter had a seven string guitar made special for him and he learned to master it. He then went off Europe and played for people there and made his way back San Francisco and played with different musicians advancing his career.
