Bobcats Update – April

The Charlotte Bobcats are fighting to make the playoffs for just the second time in playoff history, and the final time before the team takes on the Hornets moniker. The Bobcats are putting together a fine season and look like they could be in a good position to earn one of the Top 8 spots in the Eastern Conference standings come season's end. A huge reason for the team's success has been the arrival of big man Al Jefferson. For the first time in the history of the organization the Bobcats have a real go-to offensive player, a post threat as potent as any in the National Basketball Association. Through March, Jefferson has averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds on the season, and in the month of March specifically he posted averages of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Jefferson has helped this team take their game to the next level, and Bobcats fans are eager to see if this team can reach the playoffs as a result.

The Bobcats showed that they are capable of beating the best teams in the Eastern Conference last month when they took down the Indiana Pacers. Jefferson was a monster down low for the Bobcats in this game, notching 34 points on 16 of 25 shooting from the floor, and adding eight boards along the way. Charlotte dominated the Pacers in this game, winning the contest by more than 20 points. Charlotte point guards put up a nice performance in the contest as well, adding 19 points and nine assists. The Cats finished out the month of March with a nice victory over a team that has already clinched their spot in the playoffs, the Washington Wizards. Charlotte got 21 points and 10 assists from Kemba Walker, while Jefferson chipped in 19 and 10.

Bobcats Update – March

The Charlotte Bobcats appear to be rounding into form lately, and the team put together a nice month of February. Charlotte was able to win eight of their 13 contests last month, helping put them in a good position to make the postseason for just the second time in franchise history. Early in the month the Bobcats decimated the Golden State Warriors, showing that they're capable of beating quality teams. All Jefferson was a monster down low for the Bobcats in this game, putting up 30 points and 13 rebounds. Big Al has been all the Bobcats had hoped when they signed him via free agency in the offseason. Jefferson has given this organization a go-to offensive option for the first time, as he's a reliable post scorer that uses a variety of moves around the hoop to consistently but up points. The Bobcats held the Warriors to just 75 points in this game, showing that they are capable of playing suffocating defense.

On February 22nd the Bobcats got another quality win when they edged out the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies have been playing good basketball after a slow start to the season, but Kemba Walker was simply too much to handle in this game. Walker was able to put up 31 points, eight rebounds and five assists against Memphis, despite being defended by a quality defender in Mike Conley for much of the contest. Al Jefferson struggled in this game, scoring just six points, and Charlotte showed that they are not solely dependent on their veteran big man. The Bobcats took the lead in the third quarter and had a solid fourth quarter to finish things out. Charlotte is most definitely in the mix for a playoff berth as long as they continue their strong play against quality opponents.

The Charlotte Bobcats - Schedule in 2013-14

The Charlotte Bobcats are on the prowl for wins this season, and they're ready to hit the court and take on the best teams that the National Basketball Association has lined up for them. The Bobcats are looking to make a major push for the postseason in 2013-14, and they look to have arguably the most talent this organization has ever had. The offseason addition of free agent Al Jefferson could do wonders for this offense, as the Bobcats have never had a reliable post option of this caliber on this end of the floor. Jefferson brings the ability to score in a variety of ways down low, as well as the skills of a top rebounder. He should help the team's young core on offense, taking the pressure of some of these youngsters that have been looked upon to score too often in the past. The Bobcats play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference, and that division features a number of teams that will be looking to reach the playoffs. The Bobcats struggled last season, winning just 21 games over the course of the season, but many people expect that number to increase significantly in 2013-14. With the most offensive talent this franchise has ever seen, the Bobcats should finally find their way on offense, something that the fans have been waiting for since the organization was first created in 2004. It should be a great season to be a Bobcats fan, and folks will pack into the stands at Time Warner Arena to see how this team fares in 2013-14.

The Bobcats know that they're going to have their hands full when the Miami Heat come to Charlotte this season. The Heat are coming off three consecutive seasons in which they've reached the NBA Finals, and two in which they've been able to capture the NBA Championship. The Heat have one of the best players in the National Basketball Association in LeBron James, a near-unstoppable force on the court. The NBA has never seen a player of his size and quickness before, and his overall skill set is so refined that James really doesn't have much of a weakness. If the Bobcats are going to take down the Heat in any of the games they play at Time Warner Arena this season, it's going to take a big game from Al Jefferson. Jefferson plays the kind of bruising interior game that the Heat have a hard time stopping, and if he can get into a rhythm in the post it could spell disaster for Miami. The stands at any arena are filled with hoops fans any time the Heat come to down, and it should be different in Charlotte this season.

Charlotte will also be anticipating match-ups with the Atlanta Hawks this season. The Hawks were able to earn second place in the division last season on their way to a playoff spot, and the team is certainly capable of doing just that yet again in 2013-14. The Bobcats know that they've got enough talent to contend with a team like the Hawks, but it will take disciplined and consistent play from Charlotte's young guns. If they let the Hawks take control of the game, it will be hard for this young squad to battle back. Games with the Hawks could mean a lot when it comes down to the division standings and playoff seeding at the end of the season.

The Team

The Charlotte Bobcats are a professional basketball team that is a member of the National Basketball Association. The Bobcats call the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference home, and find themselves pitted against divisional foes like the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards with regularity as they all battle it out for the division crown. The Bobcats have had some tough losing seasons as of late, but the organization showed the determination to improve as quickly as possible this offseason with the signing of free agent big man Al Jefferson. Jefferson should completely change the Charlotte offense, as he is a prime offensive weapon that this Bobcats team has never seen on their roster before. Jefferson can score in the post night in and night out, and add some very good rebounding numbers as well. The team will also look for the continued development of Kemba Walker, who had a fantastic sophomore season. If Walker can emerge as a reliable second option on offense while improving as a facilitator, then the Bobcats could find themselves in the postseason come season's end.

The Experience

The National Basketball League is the best pro hoops league in the world, and that is why the best players from all around the globe come to suit up for an NBA team. NBA action is the most exciting brand of basketball, as these elite athletes fly up and down the court showcasing their skill sets on a nightly basis. It doesn't get any better than seeing a quality team like the Charlotte Bobcats hit the court at Time Warner Arena, so make sure to check it out this season.

Trivia

Where did current Charlotte Bobcats big man Al Jefferson attend college?

Trick question; Jefferson made the jump to the National Basketball Association directly from high school back when that was still allowed by the league.
