Chicago Fire Schedule in 2014

The Chicago Fire are ready to turn up the heat this season as they host some of the best teams in Major League Soccer at Toyota Park. The Fire have a ton of talent on their roster, and the organization is hoping that such a high level of talent will result in the team racking up the wins. The Fire are coming off a 2013 season in which they narrowly missed out on making the postseason thanks to a tie-breaker. The team is back in 2014 and are off to a bit of a slow start. However, there is still plenty of time for the Fire to rebound and make a run at a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Fire got a big victory on May 18th when they took down one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, Sporting Kansas City. However, the Fire don't have time to celebrate that victory, as a bevy of tough games await. Some huge games wait in September when the team will have to host Toronto FC and DC United, among others. It should be an exciting season of games for the Fire yet again.

Chicago Fire History

The Chicago Fire have been a dominant Major League Soccer team ever since the team's foundation in 1997, instantly proving they can play with the big dogs in the pros after their first MLS Cup win out of the gates in 1998. Joining the MLS as a team based at Chicago's Soldier Field, the Fire have moved stadiums a handful of times, still remaining a consistent heavy hitter in the MLS. After moving from Soldier Field, the Fire have played at Toyota park since 2006, also playing home games for a stint in 2002-2003 at Cardinal Stadium in nearby Naperville, Illinois. Over the years, the Chicago Fire have accumulated all kinds of big wins in the MLS, including the MLS Cup in 1998 and the Supporters' Shield in 2003, as well as the Western Conference championship in 1998, Central Division championship in 2000 and 2001, the Eastern Conference championship in 2003, and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup wins in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006. Names like Piotr Nowak, Frank Klopas, Lubos Kubik, Peter Wilt, Bob Bradley, Chris Armas and C.J. Brown have all resonated with the Fire as players and/or coaches, and all of these former Fire all-stars have been inducted into the Chicago Fire's "Ring of Fire," a hall of fame tribute selection that has been collecting big names in the MLS since its establishment in 2003.

Fan Experience

The feeling of being there in the stands when two tough teams take to the field for a Major League Soccer game is exhilarating. Major League Soccer is one of the fastest-growing leagues in American sports, and folks from all over North America pack into a variety of stadiums across the continent. Join them for the soccer experience of a lifetime when you head out to Toyota Park to catch a Chicago Fire game.

Chicago Fire Trivia

Chicago Fire Fans

The fans of the Chicago Fire are nearly unparalleled when it comes to their passion for the game. Thee fans can't get enough of big rivalry games that feature the Fire battling it out with some of their fiercest foes. Because the Chicago Fire are such a dominant team in the Major League Soccer, they have plenty of rivals and bring competition in heaps to the field during every game of the season. The Fire have been around the MLS since the mid-90s, giving them time to accumulate all kinds of rivals across the league. The Fire accumulated the Los Angeles Galaxy as a big rival during the early years of MLS action, facing off against the Galaxy in all kinds of big playoff games in the 90s. The Fire also compete against the FC Dallas in the Brimstone Cup, making the Western team a big rival of the Chicago soccer team as well. While teams like FC Dallas and LA Galaxy became big rivals of the Fire during their tenure in the Western Conference, the Fire accrued a whole other set of competition when they joined the Eastern Conference. Eastern Conference competitors like the D.C. United and New England Revolution have become two of the biggest rivals of the Fire's in the East over the last several years, and the Columbus Crew are in close proximity to Chicago Fire in the Midwest, giving some solid competition to the Fire for fans as well.
