Chicago Sky Schedule

The Chicago Sky are ready to reach for new heights this season as they hit the court to take on some of the best teams in the Women's National Basketball Association. The Sky have a lot of talent on the roster this season, and they're hoping to climb to the top of the standings. The Sky are coming off the best season in franchise history, as the team was able to win 24 games and take home the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They did not fare well in the playoffs, so this team is back in 2014 and hungry for victories. The Sky have some tough matchups coming their way at home this season, and they'll need a great crowd behind them to push them over the top for some key victories.

The Sky will definitely be looking forward to their August 10th matchup with the Atlanta Dream. The Dream have a good group of players that are always looking to lay it all out on the floor in the hope of a victory. If the Sky can take them down, it will be a big win for this squad. Another tough team will come into Allstate Arena when the Washington Mystics arrive. The Mystics will look to play some trickery on the Sky when they hit the court, and Chicago will have to play disciplined basketball to get the job done. Make sure you check out the remainder of the schedule to see what else is on tap.

Chicago Sky History

The Chicago Sky was formed in 2005, and played their first game in the 2006 season. The city of Chicago was awarded their WNBA franchise during 2005, and in May of that year, Coach Dave Cowens, who is a former NBA player and coach, signed on to be the head coach and general manager of the new team. The Chicago Sky was originally called WNBA Chicago, but was later changed to reflect the beauty of the city's skyline. The team's colors also reflect the skyline with their yellow and light blue hues that are reminiscent of a sunny day in Chicago. There may be plenty of things to do around the Windy City, it being one of the most famous cities in the world and all, but it still doesn't get any better than watching a big-time Chicago Sky game alongside thousands of your fellow fans.

WNBA Fan Experience

There's nothing quite like seeing your favorite WNBA team take the court right before your eyes in a game that is sure to have plenty of twists, turns and bench-gripping moments. Though there are lots of ways to experience sports these days, there is still only one way to get the full experience, and it definitely isn't sitting at home cranking up your stereo system and your flatscreen. When the game is on the line and the Sky are digging in looking to knock down a clutch bucket to help seal the deal against a conference rival, you can count on there being an atmosphere that you'll be talking about a long time after the final whistle. The WNBA is always absolutely filled with great matchups, and the Sky tend to be battling it out in some of the very best games of the season.

Chicago Sky Trivia

What is the furthest that the Chicago Sky have reached in the WNBA Playoffs?

The answer is the Conference Semifinals, which the team reached in 2013. They ended up falling to Indiana in that series, but the team was happy to make its first playoff appearance in franchise history. The Sky are looking to build on that and make a run at the WNBA title as soon as this season.

Chicago Sky Fans

Come and watch some of the best athletes in the country run for rebounds, scramble for loose balls and drive the ball to the basket. Listening to the team on the radio or watching them on TV is great, but there's nothing like seeing the Chicago Sky in person. This is a sport that really springs to life when you get a chance to see the drama unfold before your very eyes, as the buzz of the crowd helps make WNBA games a completely different level of spectator sports experience. As soon as you're there in the middle of a game that is still up in the air, with the fans digging in and waiting for an epic finale, you'll definitely be glad that you're not still sitting at home wondering what the atmosphere of the big game is like. These ladies can do a little bit of everything, guaranteeing an exciting style of basketball that always has fans jumping out of their seat on a regular basis throughout the regular season and into the playoffs. At Allstate Arena in Chicago, you'll have the perfect place for all the biggest moments in another Chicago Sky season.
