One of the oldest and most exciting college football games in the nation, the Chick-fil-A Bowl is about more than just watching some of the top collegiate players go head to head in a test of their abilities. It's also about creating a fun, vibrant atmosphere that families and friends can enjoy together. No matter your pre-game style, you'll find plenty of games, food and entertainment to keep you occupied when you head to the big event before the game, the Chick-fil-A Bowl FanFest celebration.

Schedule

Every year, the Chick-fil-A FanFest kicks off in the hours immediately prior to the Chick-fil-A Bowl. The FanFest is designed to provide football fans with a great way to get to know more about their favorite teams while having fun and enjoying pre-game snacks. A wide variety of activities, obstacle courses and games are set up during the event. Receiving, passing and kicking games are a favorite among attendees who want to prove that they've got the skills to make it with the big boys too.

Team

Cheering on your favorite team at the Chick-fil-A Bowl is sure to be an exciting experience thanks to the talent and depth that the schools in the ACC and SEC represent. Schools that have appeared in the bowl in the past include LSU, Syracuse, Auburn, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and Duke. Thanks to the bowl's notoriety, tickets have sold out more times since 1986 than for any other bowl except the Rose Bowl.

History

Once known as the Peach Bowl, the Chick-fil-A Bowl is the ninth-oldest college bowl game in the nation and was founded in 1968. The bowl is considered to be the longest-running rivalry series between the ACC and the SEC and is touted as one of the most exciting and toughest games in the U.S. Chick-fil-A took over sponsorship of the game from the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce in 1998, but the action expected in the game hasn't changed.

Hall of Fame Players

As one of the nation's oldest bowl games, the Chick-fil-A Bowl has also seen some of college football's most storied players. Inductees into the Chick-fil-A Bowl Hall of Fame include Clemson's Terry Kinard, Purdue's Rod Woodson, Georgia's Matt Stinchcomb and Iowa's Chuck Long. Many Chick-fil-A Bowl Hall of Famers went on to careers in the NFL and have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Trivia

One of the most competitive bowls around, 56 percent of all Chick-fil-A Bowl games have been decided by a margin of one touchdown or less.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl has increased payouts for winning teams every year since 1996 and has given out a total of $117.8 million to participating teams since it first started in 1968.

Charitable contributions and scholarships are a point of pride for the bowl, which has given out more to organizations in need than any other college bowl.

Auburn appeared in the Chick-fil-A Bowl four times between 1998 and 2011, winning three of those games.

Championships

Each year's Chick-fil-A Bowl champion is drawn from the ACC or SEC, one of the East Coast's best collegiate rivalries. LSU and Florida State competed in the first bowl in 1968, with LSU emerging victorious. Other notable programs that have won the bowl include Purdue, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Mississippi State, Clemson and Texas A&M.

Like the Chick-fil-A Bowl, FanFest is an experience meant to be shared between NCAA lovers and the teams they support.
