Chris Thile is a renowned bluegrass singer who first began playing music professionally in the early 1990s, when he formed the bluegrass/folk outfit Nickel Creek in Southern California. The outfit went on to win a Grammy Award before Thile started making his own solo music. After Nickel Creek's disbanding in 2006, Thile soon thereafter joined the burgeoning outfit Punch Brothers.
While Chris Thile's tenure with the Punch Brothers has been just as remarkable as his career with Nickel Cree, still the mandolinist is best heard live in concert at his own solo shows. Thile has notched several big hits on the bluegrass charts for his solo albums, including releases like Stealing Second, Not All Who Wander Are Lost, How to Grow a Woman from the Ground and Sleep with One Eye Open.
