About the Artist
Chrisette Michele grew up in Patchogue,
New York and from early on it was apparent that she was destined for a career in music. Her mother was a choir director at
a local church and while in high school Chrisette led gospel groups of her own. Eventually she earned a degree in vocal performance
at Five Towns College before pursuing her musical dreams full time. Early on in her career, before she released her debut,
Chrisette Michele caught the attention of several well known hip hop artists and was asked to appear on their albums. She
contributed vocals on Jay-Z's Kingdom Come, on LAX by The Game, on Big Doe Rehab by Ghostface Killa, and on Hip Hop Is Dead
by Nas. In 2007 she released her debut album I Am which featured a few hit singles and led to her winning a Grammy in 2008
for Best Urban/Alternative Vocal Performance. She has released four studio albums: I Am, Epiphany, Let Freedom Ring, and 2013's
Better. Additionally she has released two mixtapes: Love Thy Brother and Audio Visual Presentation: Audrey Hepburn. She also
continues to collaborate with big time hip hop artists, most recently with Rick Ross and Drake.
