Cincinnati is a city that loves football. One of the reasons behind this is the University of Cincinnati's football team.
The Cincinnati Bearcats play in the Big East Conference. In 2010, the Bearcats finished seventh in the Big East with a record
of 4-8. The Bearcats will be looking to move up the Big East standings in 2011.
The history of college football goes back more than a century, and the University of Cincinnati's program is one of the
oldest. It was founded in 1988, meaning that Rutgers, Michigan, Navy and Minnesota are the only schools in Division I-A with
older programs. The history of the Bearcats also means the team has had a place in many
NCAA football firsts.
The historic football program at the University of Cincinnati has an equally historic home venue, Nippert Stadium. The
history of Nippert Stadium
dates all the way back to 1902. The field became a stadium in the following years. It was named after Jimmy Nippert, a player
from the 1920s who died because of football-related injuries. Nippert Stadium has been modernized multiple times in the past
century.
Over the years, the Cincinnati Bearcats have yielded many players into the NFL, and getting sports
tickets to the upcoming season is a way to see the next generation of stars. For Bearcats fans, it doesn't get much better
than seeing the team play live. Check out the schedule for this season and head out to a game at Nippert Stadium.
