Cincinnati Reds Team Info

The Cincinnati Reds play in the National League Central division of Major League Baseball, a division that also features the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs. Of course, it helps that they have plenty of talent on the roster, from established stars like Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips to rising stars like Jay Bruce, Billy Hamilton and Todd Frazier, as this is a team that can do a little bit of everything in the batter's box. They also have Johnny Cueto dominating on the bump as well, which provides even more ways for the Reds to win thanks to Cueto establishing himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in the National League. With a well-balanced team, this is a squad you're not going to want to miss out on this year as they look to swing their way right back into the thick of the playoff chase.

The MLB Experience

Fans of the Cincinnati Reds love to see their team hit the baseball diamond in person, and for good reason. Watching a game in person is as good as it gets for baseball fans, and there's something incredible about the camaraderie that comes with rooting for the same team as other people. Friends are made at each and every game at the Great American Ballpark, as baseball just seems to bring people together. Get out to the stadium this season to join the most loyal Reds fans around and you'll see why so many people head out to games all season long. Once you're there watching a nail-biter with thousands of you fellow fans, you'll definitely be glad that you're not sitting anywhere outside of the stands, as the game will get elevated to a different level that you're just not going to be able to duplicate.

Cincinnati Reds History

The Cincinnati Reds franchise was founded in 1882 as the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The team changed its name to the Cincinnati Reds in 1890, but in 1953 the organization renamed the team the Cincinnati Redlegs. That would only last for five years, though, before the team would revert back to being the Reds. Overall, the Reds have won nine National League Pennants and five World Series titles, with some of the greatest players in the game playing for the franchise, including Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Joe Morgan and many more, making them nothing shy of a powerhouse in the process. These days, the Reds have another strong team that has fans thinking about seeing them challenge for a title much sooner than later, creating quite the stir around Cincinnati as the Reds look to make it happen in the National League Central.

Cincinnati Reds Trivia

Who holds the single-season franchise record for home runs?

The answer is George Foster, who was a monster in the heart of the order for the Reds between 1971 and 1981. Foster really elevated his game in the mid-1970s, as he ended up an All-Star five seasons between 1976 and 1981. The powerful left-fielder found his home run stroke in 1977 in a very big way, setting the franchise record with 52 long balls that season and walking away with the MVP. Foster wasn't done there either, as he led the National League in homers in 1978 as well while belting 40 round-trippers.
