Who hasn't heard of Cirque du Soleil by now? The Circus of the Sun, as its name translates to in French, was founded by
Guy Laliberte in Montreal during the '80s. At the time, it was not much more than a simple street performance group, with
a few dedicated acrobats and a man with an eccentric vision. Laliberte wanted to do more than just perform tricks. He wanted
to tell stories and illustrate dreams in a way that would change what people expect from the circus.
Mobile is a town where there's always plenty to do, but the circus isn't always in town. In fact, circuses as a whole are
a pretty rare experience these days outside of the surreal performances of Cirque du Soleil. Fortunately, they are bringing
their shows to Mobile!
You can always tell when a Cirque show is in town because you'll see the yellow and blue stripes of their "grand chapiteaus,"
