Citi Colonial Theatre Tickets - Citi Colonial Theatre Events

Citi Colonial Theatre in Boston is one of the most treasured entertainment venues in the country. It is located in the heart of the city, and first opened its doors in the early 1900s. It's considered to be the oldest continuously operating theater in Boston, and continues to draw thousands of visitors each year for its top-notch plays and musical productions. The first performance was an intense production of Ben-Hur that featured a horse race with real horses on stage. It put the theater on the map and made Boston the unofficial premiere location for Broadway productions before they made their New York debut. The theater hosted the pre-Broadway performances for famous productions like Porgy and Bess, Oklahoma! and The Merchant of Yonkers, among others. The theater not only saw hit musicals and plays before they hit the big time, but they also acted as a launching pad for several famous actors such as Cole Porter, Ethel Barrymore, Henry Fonda, James Earl Jones and Katharine Hepburn.

The theater has become a hot spot for some of the most famous works in musical history, with their latest production, Flashdance the musical, breaking the box office records. Thousands of people flock to the venue each year to see magnificent singers, dancers and actors perform live on stage. And with extravagant turn-of-the-century décor, patrons feel as though they are not just coming to see a play, they are coming to be part of an experience that is centuries old.
