Citi Field History
Citi Field is the Queens, New York home of the New York Mets of Major League Baseball which
opened in 2009 as a replacement for the Mets' former home, Shea Stadium. The state of the art ballpark has been home to some
of the most exciting moments in MLB since it opened its doors including the 2013 MLB All-Star Game. The venue features the
Jackie Robinson Rotunda, an homage to the legendary former Brooklyn Dodger who broke the race barrier in Major League Baseball.
When a Mets player hits a home run a giant apple emblazoned with the Mets logo, known as the Home Run Apple, rises from the
outfield wall. Citi Field has become one of the most popular ballparks in Major League Baseball and tickets can be hard to
come by but StubHub is the place to go for tickets to every event taking place at Citi Field so get yours today.
Citi Field is best known as the home field of the New York Mets and the team will be taking on many of
the best teams in Major League Baseball including the Atlanta Braves, the San Francisco Giants, the Philadelphia Phillies,
the Washington Nationals, and more as they make a push during the second half of the season to move up the N.L. East standings
and earn a playoff spot. In addition to Mets games Citi Field hosts concerts by some of the biggest names in the music biz
including Billy Joel and Paul McCartney.
New York, New York
If you are looking to see the best theater
in the world, New York is the place to be. Theaters are abundant in the city both on Broadway and off, and if you somehow
tire of the theater scene there are plenty of museums like the MoMA to explore, along with countless music venues offering
a wide variety of live music. Of course visiting New York landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park,
and the Empire State Building is a must for any first time visitor. If you are a sports fan there are several professional
sports teams playing exciting games all over the city. Catch a baseball game courtesy of the New York Yankees or the Mets,
or a basketball game by the New York Knicks or the Brooklyn Nets. Hockey is also a big deal when the New York Rangers are
playing at Madison Square Garden, and home NFL games of the New York Jets or Giants are just a short ride away.
Field Seating Layout
Citi Field seats up to 41,922 baseball fans for Mets games and the environment at the ballpark
on game days is unlike that of any other venue in the Major Leagues. For the biggest games and events the maximum capacity
can be expanded to more than 45,000 with the addition of standing room only tickets.
The Mets have
had plenty of great teams over the years bu the last time they won the World Series was in 1986 when they defeated the Boston
Red Sox in one of the most memorable World Series of all time.
