Forming in Donegal, Ireland in 1970, Clannad decided to name themselves after the Gaelic word for family. Their first two releases (entitled "Clannad" and "Clannad 2") were within a year of each other in 1973 and 1974. In 1976, the group decided to release "Dulaman" on Shanahachie Records.
