The Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013-14

The Cleveland Cavaliers are fighting to make the playoffs this season, but have had some trouble coming together as a unit in 2013-14. The Cavaliers used the number one overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft to select forward Anthony Bennett, and it has taken Bennett some time to adjust to the pro game. The team also made a big splash in free agency in acquiring center Andrew Bynum, but shipped Bynum out of town in exchange for forward Luol Deng. Deng has been a solid player for his entire career, which up until this season had been spent entirely with the Chicago Bulls. Deng gives the Cavs a stabilizing veteran presence while filling a position of need for the team. With point guard Kyrie Irving leading the charge this season, Cavs fans have high hopes for this talented, young group of players that have shown much promise.

The team is still trying to find the right role for guard Dion Waiters, who can look dominant one game and then struggle the next. Waiters has played very well leading the Cleveland second unit this season, and if they can harness his immense talent it could be enough to get this team to the playoffs. The Cavs will need center Anderson Varejao to return in good health for the playoffs if they hope to make a run, but the key to this team is really Irving. Irving is already one of the most gifted offensive guards in the league, and if he can improve on the defensive end of the court he should have this team in position to make the postseason. If the Cavs can make the playoffs, make sure to attend a game in person and experience what the NBA postseason is all about.

Cleveland Cavaliers Trivia

Where did Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving play his college ball?

The answer is Duke University. Irving entered Duke as a highly-touted prospect and played very well for the Blue Devils. However, an injury robbed Irving of most of his one and only season at Duke, and he turned pro with the knowledge that he would be a high pick in the NBA Draft. The Cavs made Irving the top choice in the draft in the hopes that he could spark their post-LeBron James rebuild. Irving has developed into one of the best offensive players in the league, but still has room to grow, especially on the defensive end. Irving was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 NBA All-Star game.

Cleveland Cavaliers Postseason History

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a long history in the National Basketball Association, one that includes a plenty of postseason appearances. The Cavs have given their fans some incredible playoff moments over the years, and will continue to do so. Cleveland has reached the postseason by winning their division three times, their most recent divisional crowns coming in 2009 and 2010. The Cavs have reached the NBA Finals one time, in 2007, but were unable to win the title that season. The Cavaliers were swept by a veteran San Antonio Spurs team in that series, despite having the best player in the league, LeBron James, at the time. James was bottled up by San Antonio's stellar defense, and the Cavs had little answer for the Spurs as a result. The Cavs are now looking to make the Finals again in the post-LeBron James era of this franchise.

Cleveland Cavaliers Fans

Cleveland Cavaliers fans can't get enough of Cavs hoops, and for good reason. This team regularly puts on a show for all the fans in attendance to enjoy, and they make some great plays even in losing efforts. When the Cavs make the playoffs, though, the atmosphere in the arena is more exciting than you can imagine without actually being there. The Cavs are looking to reach the postseason as soon as possible, and fans are waiting with baited breath for that season. When it occurs, expect to see the stands packed to the brim with some of the most enthusiastic NBA fans in all the land. Be there to experience it for yourself when the Cavs host their next playoff game.
