About the Band
Clutch started off
as a hardcore punk band but switched styles after their original singer left and Neil Fallon joined the band, changing its
direction in a move that would prove wise for the band's future. Clutch's debut full length, Transnational Speedway League,
was released in 1993, and the following year saw the release of their self-titled album which would start gaining the band
more mainstream attention. Due to that success, Columbia Records released the band's next album The Elephant Riders. Since
their inception, the band has released ten albums: Transnational Speedway League, Clutch, The Elephant Riders, Jam Room, Pure
Rock Fury, Blast Tyrant, Robot Hive/Exodus, From Beale Street to Oblivion, Strange Cousins from the West, and most recently
2013's Earth Rocker. The band is as strong as ever and continues to record and tour to this day.
2001 album, Pure Rock Fury proved to be a tipping point for the band who had seemed on the verge of success for so long. The
single Careful with that Mic off the album, their first for Atlantic Records, proved to be a hit as did Immortal and Open
Up the Border two other singles off of the album. Since they hit it big with Pure Rock Fury their label requested they release
a live album, Live at the Googolplex, as well as a rarities album, Slow Hole to China. Their following album, Blast Tyrant,
was similarly a huge success and the single The Mob Goes Wild was made into a music video that was directed by Bam Margera
and featured other cast members of Bam's show Viva la Bam.
You've heard about Clutch for
years and seen his videos and listened to his songs. Perhaps you have even seen video of him performing live, but now you
get to experience that excitement in person. Finally, Clutch emerges on stage and waves to the crowd as they approach their
instruments. The opening chords of their first song ring out and the band begins bouncing around energetically. Their enthusiasm
is contagious and the entire concert hall is soon doing the same thing. As the night goes on Clutch tears through hits from
albums like Transnational Speedway League, Clutch, The Elephant Riders, Jam Room, Pure Rock Fury, Blast Tyrant, Robot Hive/Exodus,
From Beale Street to Oblivion, Strange Cousins from the West, and Earth Rocker. Clutch is legendary for their live shows and
always has known how to work a crowd, their ability to connect with an audience is unparalleled in rock music. Finally when
the show is over you will be fondly recalling the night for years and anxiously awaiting the next chance to see them in concert.
All four members of Clutch also perform together in an instrumental jam band called The Bakerton Group
and each member is also part of other side projects separate from the band. Neil Fallon's sister works at Charm City Cakes
in Baltimore and regularly appears on Ace of Cakes, the reality show based on that bakery.
