Formed in historic downtown Fullerton, California, in 2004, Cold War Kids consists of Matt Aveiro, Matt Maust, Jonnie Russell and Nathan Willett. The band's breakthrough premiere Robbers & Cowards was released to considerable acclaim in 2006, followed by the darker Loyalty To Loyalty two years later, and Mine Is Yours presented deeper anthemic qualities to the eclectic group's repertoire in 2011. Their music ranges from slow, bluesy dirges filled with hand-clapping to strained poetic vocals. "Don't wanna die in your arms, I just wanna..diiie," vocalist Nathan Willett wails on "Die, Die, Die" -- and you really believe him. Other songs are filled with undeniably catchy hooks and unforgettable lyrics, often with mournful undertones.
Cold War Kids has had a number of hits since their inception in 2004. Their debut LP Robbers & Cowards was released in the fall of 2006 and featured the single, Hang Me Up to Dry. The album peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart. The full length album, Mine Is Yours, debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard 200.
