Colorado State Rams Basketball Schedule

Moby Arena, the Fort Collins, Colorado home of the Colorado State Rams basketball team, is one of the most energetic arenas in all of college basketball. The Rams are long time members of the Mountain West Conference and have scored some big wins within the conference over the years, emerging as serious contenders for the conference title. Last season was a bit of a disappointment for Colorado State as they went 7-11 in the conference and missed out on the NCAA Tournament after having earned an invitation the previous two years. The Rams will be looking to improve upon last year's performance and make their way back to the top of the conference standings and into the NCAA Tournament. It is never an easy task for a team to successfully navigate their way through a tough Mountain West schedule but the Rams appear to have the talent and motivation to do just that in the 2014-2015 season.

The Colorado State Rams will once again be going up against all of the best teams in the Mountain West including the San Diego State Aztecs, the UNLV Running Rebels, the New Mexico Lobos, the Nevada Wolf Pack, and the Boise State Broncos. Colorado State and their fans are not used to ending up in the middle of the pack in the conference and they are sure to be laying it all on the line in hopes of having a turn around season. Colorado State appears to be poised to accomplish great things this season and you will want to be there at Moby Arena to cheer them on to some big wins. Tickets to see the Rams play in Fort Collins always sell quickly so be sure to get yours from StubHub as soon as possible.

Colorado State Rams Basketball History

Colorado State is a charter member of the Mountain West Conference and as such has long standing rivalries with several of the top teams in the conference including UNLV, San Diego State, New Mexico, and others. Perhaps the biggest rival of Colorado State is Air Force who are not only conference rivals but also in-state rivals. The Colorado State Rams have participated in the NCAA Tournament ten times, most recently in 2013 when they made it to the third round before losing to eventual champions, the Louisville Cardinals. Last season the Rams struggled at times in conference play and finished with a.500 overall record, missing out on the Tournament after losing in the first round of the Mountain West tournament to Utah State. You can be sure that in addition to looking for revenge against Utah State, the 2014-2015 Colorado State Rams will be looking to make a big move up the Mountain West standings in an effort to make a return to the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Larry Eustachy will surely have no problem getting the most out of the Rams this season as they will be determined to make their way back to the Big Dance. This is an exciting time to be a Colorado State Rams fan and every die hard fan will want to be sure to be at Moby Arena to cheer on the Rams right from the start.

Colorado State Rams Basketball Conference

In recent years the Mountain West Conference has emerged as a true national powerhouse. There are now eleven members of the Mountain West Conference: San Diego State, UNLV, Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Nevada, Fresno State, Wyoming, Utah State, and San Jose State. Previous members have included TCU, Utah, and BYU. Of the current members, Utah State leads the way with twenty NCAA Tournament appearances. However, so far all of their appearances have come before joining the Mountain West. UNLV and Wyoming, two charter members of the Mountain West, are next in line with 19 and 14 respectively. UNLV and Wyoming are also the only two members of the conference to win a National Championship, with UNLV winning in 1990 and Wyoming winning all the way back in 1943. Lately it has been San Diego State, New Mexico, and UNLV who have dominated the conference on the basketball court with SDSU tearing up the national rankings during the 2013-2014 season.

The Experience

Attending a top college basketball game is one of the best experiences to be found in sports. Many of the top student athletes in the world take the court in college basketball, when this is combined with some of the most passionate fans in all of sports there is an atmosphere in the arena that cannot be found anywhere else. When you set foot into Moby Arena for a Colorado State Rams home basketball game this will all be clear. As the teams set up for opening jump ball the fans get on their feet and loudly cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites. The game continues full of end to end action, big time shots, and clutch defensive stops. All of a sudden the clock is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped up in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with each trip down the floor and each time a player from your favorite team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball tickles the twine. This continues until the final buzzer when the Rams' side erupts after another big win and their fans exit of the arena in jubilation. The minute you leave Moby Arena you will want to begin your next trip back to help cheer on the Rams.

Trivia

The furthest the Colorado State Rams have advanced in the NCAA Tournament is the Elite Eight, which they accomplished in 1969 after defeating in-state rivals Colorado before falling to Drake. One of the most memorable moments in the history of Colorado State Rams basketball occurred during the 2003-2004 season when the Rams were playing at home against the Purdue Boilermakers. The Rams were down by 4 with 7 seconds left when they fouled and got the ball back after two missed Boilermakers free throws then made two straight three pointers including one at the buzzer to win the game. The event is known as the Miracle at Moby.
