Guitarist Michael Timmins and bassist Alan Anton founded the band, recruiting Timmins’ brother Peter and sister Margo for drums and vocals, respectively. The band has become known by Margo’s ethereal vocals. Their 1988 album “The Trinity Session,” recorded in one night with one microphone, launched them into the mainstream in the United States. A cover of the Velvet Underground’s “Sweet Jane” became their first major hit.
