Take equal parts ‘80s synth-pop, dreamy vocals, and danceable beats. Stir them together, and what you end up with
is indie-rock sensation Cut Copy. As their title suggests, quite a lot of their music is made synthetically on computers,
but their unique mix of synthetic with organic, ethereal pop band sounds has earned them a strong following.
Forming in Melbourne in 2001, Cut Copy consists of bassist and guitarist Tim Hoey, drummer Mitchell Scott and songwriter/producer/DJ
Dan Whitford. In 2004, the band released their debut LP, Bright Like Neon Love, which scored them major points with the
critics. Fans soon followed suit, finding their atmospheric and dancey indie-pop enchanting.
In 2008, the band released their third full-length, In Ghost Colors, to raving praise. They saw it shoot to the top of
Australia’s music charts, and toured extensively both at home and internationally, striking it big at major music festivals.
