Raymond Ayala was born on February 3, 1977 in Rio Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico. He became involved with the music scene at an early age, and ultimately was drawn to rap. However, he learned the art of Reggaeton when he worked with the legendary DJ Playero in the 1990's. DJ Playero is credited by many as the pioneer of the genre. Daddy Yankee has since released nine albums, and is known particularly in Latin countries as a true superstar.
