In the 1980s Dan Zanes was part of the popular band called The Del Fuegos, which he started with Tom Lloyd, a guy he met at his college cafeteria. The Del Fuegos achieved some level of popularity while they were producing music, but broke up and went their separate ways in 1989. Zanes got married and had a child, but he didn't settle down in the traditional since. He started a children's band with other fathers that he met at playgrounds in Boston and began producing music as Dan Zanes and Friends.
