Daniel Tosh is known for his "razor sharp"
observations and provocative commentary about all things involving the Internet. This hilarious comic regularly hosts the
Comedy Central television show Tosh.0, and is now back on his very own speaking tour—which is why you'll want to check
StubHub to see when he'll be performing in a town near you!
Tosh grew up in Titusville, Florida,
the son of a preacher. He has one brother and two sisters.
After graduating from Astronaut High
School, Tosh attended the University of Central Florida, graduating with a degree in marketing. One of his first jobs was
working as a telemarketer at Central Florida Research Park, which did not last very long. Tosh moved to Los Angeles shortly
thereafter and began touring the comedy club circuit. His first appearance was as one of the New Faces at the 1998 Just for
Laughs in Montreal. His act was televised in 2000 in Montreal at the Théâtre Saint-Denis. Tosh finally got his big
break in comedy in 2001 when he performed on the Late Show with David Letterman. Soon, Tosh was everywhere—he appeared
on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Comedy Central's Premium Blend. He also hosted a local late-night
comedy show in Florida called Ten and was a spokesman in Taco Bell commercials. In 2003, he performed in his own 30-minute
special on Comedy Central Presents. On June 17, 2007, Comedy Central aired his stand-up special: Daniel Tosh: Completely Serious.
He then hosted an episode of Comedy Central's Live at Gotham. Tosh is also a regular guest on The Bob & Tom Show. He played
a small role in the feature film The Love Guru starring Mike Myers. Tosh's Comedy Central television show Tosh.0, which showcases
Internet video clips, premiered on June 5, 2009. His jokes frequently consist of punchlines which are intentionally racist,
sexist or homophobic. Tosh has suggested in the past that he is not a misogynist or a racist, and only makes these types of
jokes because he finds them funny.
Tosh has confessed in the past that he suffers from social anxiety. He has also said
that he plans to end his career on his 38th birthday, May 29, 2013. He has said he will accomplish this by committing suicide
or retiring to the beach. He keeps a countdown clock on his website, DanielTosh.com, that gives the number of days, minutes,
and seconds until his 38th birthday, because that is when his "Groundhog Day" ends. Tosh has described the routine life of
a comedian on the road as "Groundhog Day."
Tosh has helped out with several fundraising events, including a show for
the family of comedian Greg Giraldo and for Alabama disaster relief. Tosh's latest special, Happy Thoughts, premiered on Comedy
Central on March 6, 2011, with 3.25 million viewers. The special was later released on DVD.
Tosh's CD and/or DVD releases
over the years have included True Stories I Made Up (CD, 2005), Completely Serious (DVD, 2007), and Happy Thoughts (CD/DVD,
March 8, 2011). His stand-up specials have consisted of Comedy Central Presents: Daniel Tosh (2003), Daniel Tosh: Completely
