Dartmouth College varsity sports programs compete in the Ivy League conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. The college, located in Hanover, New Hampshire, has never had an official mascot, though the term “The Big Green” was picked up in the 1860s. The basketball team has competed in two NCAA Men’s Division I championship games, in 1942 and 1944, losing both times.
