About Dave Koz
American smooth jazz artist was born in Encino California on March 27, 1963. After completing a degree in Mass Communications,
Dave Koz decided to focus on his musical career with the aim of becoming a professional saxophonist. Initially his family
and friends considered this to be a relatively brash decision following graduation, but it did not take long before that decision
started to make sense. Dave Koz was asked to join Bobby Caldwell on tour. Bobby Caldwell is an American musician who has had
a musical career that has spanned more than thirty years and is best known for his song What You Won't Do For Love. During
the 1980s, Dave Koz spent his time working as a session musician and touring with various different artists. What is most
interesting is that he joined the house band for the Pat Sajak Show. If you don't recall, Pat Sajak had a late night show
on CBS that lasted for a short at the end of the 1980s and beginning of 1990s. It was during the 1990s that Dave Koz that
he decided to go solo and released a self-titled album. After he opened the Dave Koz solo door, he released numerous albums
that include some of the following: Lucky Man, Off the Beaten Path, The Dance, December Makes Me Feel This Way and Saxophonic.
In addition to creating music, he hosted a few radio shows and even started a record label. What is more he even had his own
television show. It was called Frequency that was by Fast Focus.
Dave Koz Breakthrough
At first it seemed
like a curious decision for Dave Koz to pursue his passion in music as a career instead of focusing on Mass Communications.
As it turns out, it was a wise decision that led to a great number of hit albums and songs. The album that is considered to
have been his breakthrough was the 2003 release of Saxophonic. It had a number of recognizable hits. It was even nominated
for a Grammy Award and NAACP Award. In 2009, Dave Koz received the honor of having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Dave Koz Trivia
Dave Koz is most known for the music he creates and it is his passion for it that has helped
to bring him the fame that was secondary to simply sharing his music. He found success sharing his music on television and
on radio during the 1990s. During his early television show, he interviewed famous artists and they would perform together.
It is quite similar to what Elvis Costello does on his show Spectacle. Dave Koz did not only find fame on television during
the 1990s. In 2010, he performed on the television show Desperate Housewives. He sang the song Start All Over Again during
season seven with the singer Dana Glover. Another fun thing that Dave Koz enjoyed is cruises, as it was his way of connecting
to his fan in a new way at sea.
