Dave Koz grew up in the San Fernando Valley and learned to play the piano at a very young age. When he was older, Koz learned to play the saxophone so that he could be in he brother's band. After graduating from UCLA with his degree in Mass Communications, Koz decided to follow his dream and become a musician. In 1990, Koz went after his solo career and released his debut album that got a lot of praise. Koz also played on the Arsenio Hall's show and became known in the soft contemporary jazz genre.
