About Deltron 3030
of the few true supergroups in the world, Deltron 3030 is made up of three main components: rapper Del the Funky Homosapien,
Kid Koala, and visionary producer Dan the Automator. With a series of futuristic concept albums and more combined musical
talent than any group on the planet today, it is no surprise that Deltron 3030 has been at the forefront of the hip hop scene
for more than fifteen years.
Deltron 3030 would be pioneered by San Francisco native Daniel Nakamura, performing under
the alias Dan the Automator. With musical roots in both classical and hip hop, Dan the Automator has been a visionary and
trailblazing producer on the DJ scene for nearly thirty years. Besides Deltron 3030, Dan has demonstrated his musical chops
producing and collaborating on a variety of albums through various genres, including Kool Keith, the project Handsome Boy
Modeling School, The Gorillaz, the band Crudo alongside friend Mike Patton, and also Mary Elizabeth Winstead's project Got
Dropping vocals for Deltron 3030 is Del the Funky Homosapien, a mainstay in the rap and hip hop scene since
1988 and one of the most iconic voices in the industry. Hailing from Oakland, California, Del has had an illustrious music
career that has seen him work alongside some of the biggest names in the business including Unwritten Law, Ice Cube, and Da
Lench Mob. His most recent work aside from his work with Deltron 3030 would see him releasing self produced and self written
tracks on the LP Iller Than Most, which dropped earlier this year.
Rounding out Deltron 3030 is Canadian DJ Kid Koala,
who has been on the cutting edge of Canada's electronica scene for decades. His musical credentials have seen him working
with a diverse group of artist's, from Australian based megarockers Wolfmother to internet electronica phenomenon The Slew.
Be sure to look out for his namesake, the life-size adult Koala costume that he rocks at all his live performances.
Deltron 3030's breakout album dropped in 2000, a self titled album on the 75 Ark label that would
break the Billboard 200 and climb to the #18 spot on the US Indie chart. The album would benefit considerably from the incredible
amounts of hype surrounding the project, which was built from the individual success enjoyed by all three of the principals
behind the Deltron 3030 project. A concept album, the record would focus on a dystopian future and received a standing ovation
four and a half stars from music critic Allmusic, as well as various perfect scores from other publications. At 24 tracks,
the album contained a slew of hits and almost as many collaborations, including "Memory Loss", "New Coke", "Virus", and "Love
The band's 2013 followup would be an even bigger phenomenon on the music scene, hitting #41, #13, and #3 on
the Billboard 200, R&B, and Indie charts, respectively. The album benefited from a thirteen year hiatus where each artist
was able to carefully hone their individual sounds, which would help produce some of the album's biggest hits including "Melding
of the Minds", "Nobody Can", and "My Only Love".
As legends in the music scene, the band has secured
guest spots from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Rage Against the Machine's Zack De La Rocha and Andy
Samberg's The Lonely Island.
