2014 Denver Broncos Schedule

Last year was one of the best seasons in the history of the franchise for the Denver Broncos, as they made it all the way to the Super Bowl before ultimately losing to a very tough Seattle Seahawks team. With Peyton Manning lighting up defenses all season long last year, the Broncos have put together one of the most prolific offenses in the history of the game, making for an exciting style of football that gives them a chance to win against every team that takes to the field against them. The schedule is bursting with possibilities as the Broncos reload and again take aim at the top of the AFC West, providing all the incentive you need to keep an eye on the schedule this season.

It all gets started in a big way for the Broncos at home when they take on the Indianapolis Colts in week one, as the Sept. 7 matchup is sure to have some serious fanfare as Andrew Luck and Indy come to town. There will also be a huge early-season home matchup against the Chiefs on Sept. 14, as both teams come off of playoff seasons in 2013 and will be looking to stake their claim as the top team in the division. Denver will most definitely be looking forward to Oct. 19 when they host the San Francisco 49ers, as it will be an intense matchup featuring two of the best teams in the entire NFL. Another big matchup will come the Broncos way on Oct. 23 when the San Diego Chargers take the field at Sports Authority Field, as the Chargers squeezed into the playoffs last year and are known for having a very talented team surrounding Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback Philip Rivers.

The schedule has a lot more to offer than the home games, however, as they also have some unbelievable road games that will offer the perfect opportunity for a little road trip featuring the Broncos. A Nov. 9 matchup in Oakland is sure to have plenty of Broncos fans in the stands, as will a Nov. 16 game in St. Louis against the stout St. Louis Rams. Another huge game will be a late-season matchup with the Chargers in San Diego, which will go down on Dec. 14. No matter what the type of game you're looking for, the schedule is sure to have something for you this season as the Broncos look to take another shot at winning a title.

Denver Broncos Team Info

The Denver Broncos were so close to reaching their goal of winning the Super Bowl last season, making it all the way to the big game before falling just shy. Looking to reload and improve, the Broncos added Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby to the mix to try and shore up a secondary that, at times, struggled last season. They signed free agent corner Aqib Talib in the offseason as well, providing further depth to crucial positions. The team may have gotten a steal in the second round when they landed Indiana wide receiver Cody Lattimer at the 55th pick, as Lattimer could help fill the void that the departure of Eric Decker could leave in this prolific offense.

With guys like Demaryius Thomas and Wes Welker making it hard on the defense and one of the best linebacking crews in the league, this is a team that can do a little bit of everything, and they still have Peyton Manning looking to pass his way deeper into the record books. Put it all together and the Broncos are one of the toughest teams in the league and a squad that has high hopes for 2014.

Denver Broncos History

The Denver Broncos first got their start in pro football in 1960, when they began playing in the AFL. After the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the Broncos joined the NFL's AFC West division, and have been an on-and-off dominant team since then. The Broncos have two Super Bowl titles under their belt, in 1997 and again in 1998. This incredible feat is one that still remains one of the high points of the Broncos' history, starting in '97, when the dynamic foursome of John Elway, Shannon Sharpe, Terrell Davis and Gary Zimmerman led the charge for the Broncos as they made championship history for the first time. These days, the Broncos are in another amazing era of football with Peyton Manning under the helm, giving you plenty of opportunities to come out and see football played at its highest level.

Denver Broncos Trivia

Did you know that the Denver Broncos did not actually draft former quarterback and current general manager John Elway?

The Baltimore Colts (as they were then) selected Elway with the first pick in the 1983 NFL Draft, which included a standout quarterback class. Elway did not want to play for the Colts, however, so he was moved to Denver without ever playing a down for Baltimore.
