Detroit Tigers Playoffs

It's not exactly a secret that the Tigers have one of the most explosive rosters in Major League Baseball, and that tends to have them right in the thick of the playoff picture every single year while battling it out in the ultra-competitive A.L. Central. Come out and see all of the skyscraping dingers, dramatic at-bats and sensational defensive plays that have become standard operating procedure over the years for the Tigers. And when it comes to playoff baseball, there is only one place to be if you're a big fan, as it's in the stands of a playoff game that you'll get a chance to see Major League Baseball on a whole different level.

There is nothing quite like being in the stands when it's a highly anticipated Major League Baseball game, though that's not something that you're going to figure out sitting at home wondering what the atmosphere is like. Watch the Tigers as they look to light up the scoreboard and put together some dramatic wins this postseason as they take another swing at making it to the Fall Classic, the ultimate goal for this explosive roster filled with some of the brightest stars in the game. There is nothing like being there when the game is on the line and the Tigers are digging in during a nail-biter but that's not something that you're going to figure out from home.

The Experience

Dating all the back to the early days of the Olympics and chariot racing, people have been pouring in by the thousands for spectator sports, and that's not something likely to change any time in the near future. Things have changed a bit these days, of course, but there are still some amazing sporting events that need to be seen up close and personal. Year in and year out, one of the best leagues out there is Major League Baseball, the perfect sport whether you're a die-hard fan or looking to bring your family to a little slice of America's Pastime. But even though the regular season is also filled with opportunities, the playoffs will give you a different perspective that you're just not going to find from home no matter how big your flatscreen is.

The Team

MLB tickets to see the Detroit Tigers first went on sale in 1969, giving the Tigers a long history littered with great players and teams. During the 1980s the Tigers were hot, adding multiple division titles, two A.L. Pennants and one World Championship to their list of achievements. These days, the Tigers have a squad filled with players who can do a little bit of everything, with superstar slugger Miguel Cabrera and hurler Justin Verlander dominating on the diamond and giving them one of the most explosive and well-balanced rosters in Major League Baseball. When you have that kind of talent, absolutely anything can happen and the Tigers once again have a team that you definitely can't count out.

Detroit Tigers Trivia

Did you know that Justin Verlander won the pitching Triple Crown?

Though Miguel Cabrera rightly got a lot of attention and fanfare for winning the hitting Triple Crown recently, Justin Verlander's 2011 season was also nothing shy of amazing, as he led the American League in ERA, wins and strikeouts.

Detroit Tigers History

Over the years, the Tigers have had plenty of amazing moments, though winning it all all back in a memorable 1984 World Series, is still the benchmark for this proud franchise. Since 1901, the Detroit Tigers have done quite a bit to establish themselves as a seminal part of the Detroit sports scene, culminating in a World Series title in 1984 that fans are still talking about to this day, with Kirk Gibson's Fall Classic heroics leading the way. These days, the roster has changed a bit, but they once again have a team absolutely popping with great players that can turn a game on a dime, making it a great idea to get out and show your support for an important road game this season. In 2006, Detroit won the A.L. Pennant and came close to taking down yet another World Series title, and they got back to the last couple of Fall Classics as well. With the Tigers circling a title, there has never been a better time to join in the action.

The Fans

Comerica Park is one of the best parks in the country to see a baseball game, but you're not going to really figure that out anywhere but the stands alongside tens of thousands of your fellow Tigers' fans. Once you're there, you'll be glad that you made it happen so you can feel the pulse of the crowd for all of the nail-biting moments this postseason. But even though home playoff games are amazing, don't forget about the road games, as Detroit fans are known to travel to support their team as well as any fan base in the game.
