Makes Three Background
Devil Makes Three is comprised of Pete Bernhard (guitarist/singer); Cooper McBean (guitarist);
and Lucia Turino (bassist). Bernhard said they were "all raised by sort of hippie parents who exposed them to folk, blues
and jugbands." Bernhard and McBean grew up in Vermont. They were introduced to Turino, originally from New Hampshire, after
they migrated to Santa Cruz, California. Formed in 2001, the group cut their teeth by playing everything from hole-in-the-wall
bars to house concerts to theaters to festivals. They issued their self-titled album in 2002. Longjohns, Boots and a Belt
came next followed by A Little Bit Faster and a Little Bit Worse, a live effort. Eventually, the band inked a deal with Milan
Records, which re-released their eponymous album. Do Wrong Right dropped in 2009, followed by Stomp and Smash (2011) and their
latest effort, I'm a Stranger Here (2013).
