A German native, Diana Damrau studied voice under the tutelage of Carmen Hanganu at Wurzburg Conservatory and with Hanna
Ludwig in Salzburg. She made her professional operatic premiere at Wurzburg's Mainfrankentheater in 1995, eventually joining
the company's ensemble. She released her CD debut with Arie di Bravura, which garnered acclaimed reviews and renowned awards.
Successive solo projects include discs with Mozart arias (Donna), orchestral songs by Richard Strauss (Poesie, honored with
the ECHO Klassik in 2011), coloratura pieces of the romantic period (COLORaturaS) and songs by Franz Liszt. Her discography
is completed by a plethora of concert, opera and recital recordings on various labels. She has reached a broad audience additionally
with her TV appearances, including for the opening gala of the 2006 Soccer World Cup in Munich.
In addition to her successes in opera, Diana Damrau has proven to be one of today's finest lieder singers having presented
recitals with pianists, including Julius Drake and Helmut Deutsch at prestigious venues like Vienna's Musikverein, Berlin's
Philharmonie, London's Wigmore Hall, New York's Carnegie Hall, the Salzburg Festival and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. Her
remarkable musical collaboration with harpist Xavier de Maistre is recorded in the CD release Nuit d'etoiles and a TV recording
of a recital hosted in Baden-Baden. She consistently performs songs by the British composer Iain Bell.
Since 2005, Diana Damrau has made an annual trek to New York, tackling Rosina, Lucia, Aithra, Konstanze, Gilda, Zerbinetta,
Adele, Marie and Adina. She has sparked a sensation by singing both her first Pamina and her last Queen of the Night in a
2007 run of Die Zauberflote. In Europe, she holds close-knit ties with the Salzburg Festival where her 2001 premiere was followed
