Known for his work with his band The Belmonts and set to tour, Dion could have been on that plane with Richie Valens and Buddy Holly.         Dion DiMucci was raised in the Bronx, New York and started performing on the street corners and bars at a very young age. Country singer Hank Williams was Dion's inspiration to pursue a singing career and then in 1957 he created his band with local singers called Dion and The Belmonts. Dion with topped the charts with The Belmonts with hits like "A Teenager in Love."
