Dion was born in The Bronx in 1939, where he developed a deep passion for music at an early age.
His father was a vaudeville entertainer, and young Dion would often accompany his father on tour, which is why he quickly
grew fond of music and fostered the dream of becoming an entertainer. He fell in love with many different genres of music,
from country to blues to rock, so he never wanted to pigeonhole himself into one particular style of music. While a teenager,
Dion started performing on street corners and in local music venues throughout The Bronx, and eventually he gained enough
attention that he decided to form his own singing group, which he called Dion and the Belmonts. In 1958, the group experienced
their major break when they released the hit song, "I Wonder Why". This single scored a high spot on the music charts, and
suddenly Dion and the Belmonts were regarded as one of the new bands to watch.
After breaking onto the scene with the
Belmonts, Dion's fame skyrocketed during the '60s. As a solo artist, he scored one hit song after another, such as "Runaround
Sue" and "Kissin' Game". From then on, Dion couldn't shy away from the spotlight. Throughout his career, Dion has gone through
many changes as far as style and genre go, but one thing remains unchanging: his phenomenal performing skills. Whether he
is performing some of his best rock songs or veering more toward the blues, you can always count on Dion to put on a rip-roaring
live performance. So when the famed and acclaimed Dion makes his way to a concert venue near you, make sure that you are in
