Dirty Guvnahs Background
The Dirty Guvnahs' story begins when
six members were introduced through a mutual friend dubbed, The Guv'nah, while attending the university in Knoxville. What
started out as a group getting together to play a few gigs now and then turned into so much more. In the spring of 2006, the
band, led by frontman James Trimble, started to perform and it wasn't long before word of the band spread like wildfire within
their native hometown of Knoxville.
Their eponymous album was cut in 2009, which was followed by an appearance at the
Bele Chere Festival that summer in support of Cracker. The band recorded their sophomore album with a group formed by the
Woodstock, New York-based Levon Helm Studios. The end product was Youth Is In Our Blood, which was issued in 2010. Tracks
off the album included Baby We Were Young, Wide Awake and We'll Be The Light. The album, often likened to The Black Crowes,
catapulted the Dirty Guvnahs into a sweet spot - opening for the Zac Brown Band in 2010 as well as Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
