Hailing from the always-sunny Huntington Beach, California, this Southern California band started
at a high school party. Jared "Dirty J" Watson and Dustin "Duddy B" Bushnell were just freshmen in high school when they met
at a party, and they immediately connected because of their love of music. Bushnell was already involved with a garage punk
band and practiced rapping on the side, but Watson had absolutely no previous music experience. That didn't stop him, however,
because although he hadn't played in a band or produced demo tapes, he had a deep love for music. The two high school boys
started writing music together that blended hip hop, reggae, and punk to create a unique and catchy sound.
duo added percussionist Jon Olazabal, bassist David Foral, and drummer Matt Ochoa to the lineup, and now with a full band,
they started to take their music very seriously. With their fun and catchy sound, the Dirty Heads started to amass a wide
following around Southern California, eventually becoming so popular that they attracted the attention of Rob Cavallo of Warner
Bros. However, due to artistic differences, the band separated from the record label and later collaborated with producers
Stan Frazier and Steve Fox to complete their debut album in 2008.
Once they released their debut album, there was no
turning back—the Dirty Heads had become a phenomenon in the sub-genre of reggae. They toured frequently with major bands
like 311, Pepper, Sublime with Rome, Matisyahu, O.A.R, Unwritten Law, and more, playing to sold out crowds around the world.
The band has come a long way since 1996, when they would play to a handful of people in small bars in Orange County. Now,
the Dirty Heads rock out in massive theaters and amphitheaters around the world, and their momentum just continues to increase.
