About Disco Biscuits
Hailing from Philadelphia, the Disco Biscuits
are a jam band consisting of Allen Aucoin on drums, Marc Brownstein on bass, Jon Gutillig on guitar, and Aron Magner on keyboards/synth.
Disco Biscuits are famous for infusing various musical styles, also known as "trance fusion." The band members met at the
University of Pennsylvania, and started playing music together in 1995. Initially playing gigs at frat parties, they were
soon playing at local clubs and bars. By 1996, the Disco Biscuits had release their debut indie album, "Encephalous Crime."
Their debut album gave them the exposure they needed in order to embark on a tour, and they eventually were touring in support
of acts like Merl Saunders, the Jerry Garcia Band, and the Black Crowes.
In 1998, the Disco Biscuits were signed to
Hydrophonics Records, and they released their second album, "Uncivilized Area," which included the tracks "Vassillios," "Aceetobee,"
"Little Betty Boop," and "Awol's Blues." They followed up with the release of their third album "They Missed the Perfume"
in 2001, and "Senor Boombox" in 2002, which reflected their ever-evolving sound and experimental music. The album reached
the Top Electronic Albums chart and the Top Independent Albums chart as well. The danceable style of music that they create
is infectious, and fans can't get enough of their unique tunes. In fact, Disco Biscuits' songs are typically written for the
live show first, and then the record occurs later, capturing the transformative sound of their music.
In addition to
their album success, the Disco Biscuits have also created an electronic and jam band music festival called "Camp Bisco." Camp
Bisco takes place at Indian Lookout Country Club in upstate New York, and was started in 1999 with the idea of bringing together
DJ sets and jam bands, as both genres were breaking into the mainstream at the time. The festival has included the likes of
Bassnectar, Skrillex, Amon Tobin, and Big Gigantic.
Disco Biscuits' Breakthrough Album
Once the Disco
Biscuits were able to release their debut album "Encephalous Crime," fans couldn't get enough of the unique trance fusion
sounds that the band had created. After they were signed to Hydrophonics Records, their careers shot to the next level, and
they went on to release several more successful albums and joined concert tours. In addition, they have been able to use their
fame for good causes, including working with various charities and organizations.
