Arthel Lane "Doc" Watson was born on March 3, 1923 in Deep Gap, North Carolina. He lost his vision before he turned one due to an eye infection, but has enjoyed a lifelong love affair with music. Doc learned to play the guitar early, and has released dozens of albums during his career. Overall, he has won six Grammy Awards and in 1997 received the National Medal of the Arts from President Clinton. This living legend is worth every effort to see, and you'll hear a lifetime of music and stories at every event.
