Donavon Frankenreiter Schedule
Over the past decade, Donavon Frankenreiter has cemented a solid reputation for
himself as one of the more authentic voices on the music scene. He has been able to achieve this by sticking to a rigorous
tour schedule and by churning out infectious tunes like "Free." Frankenreiter said, "I listen to so much music, and I pretty
much feel comfortable singing all of it, so I didn't want to come across as a guy who does nothing else but sit on a beach
with an acoustic guitar, playing around a fire. The funky stuff, especially, is fun to play - it really lets me tap into a
different part of my personality."

Before he was taking stages with his music, Donavon Frankenreiter was catching waves as a professional surfer.Hailing
from Southern California, Frankenreiter earned a sponsorship contract with Billabong, an Australian-based clothing business.
The tremendous opportunity led him to the Hawaiian islands when he was just 16. It was there that he rented a place to stay
from Jack Johnson's parents. At the time Jack Johnson was also a surfer who hadn't yet tapped into his musical gifts. Frankenreiter
and Johnson instantly became friends, frequently spending time together when not at the beach, just hanging out and picking
the guitar. Frankenreiter always expressed an interest in music and in his late teens, he gigged with a band dubbed Peanut
Butter and Jam. He eventually became the lead guitarist for a group known as Sunchild. His tenure with Sunchild helped boost
his confidence enough for him to pursue a solo career. In the meantime, Jack Johnson's career gained momentum, and he established
his own record label, Brushfire Records. Johnson was able to give Frankenreiter a helping hand and issued Frankenreiter's
eponymous album in 2004. The album additionally featured contributions from Johnson as well as Koool G Murder of the Eels
and G. Love.
For his sophomore effort, Frankenreiter signed on to the Lost Highway label. Move by Yourself was issued
in 2006. Recycled Recipes, an EP, followed in 2007. And, his full-length effort, Pass It Around, arrived a year later. At
around the same time, Frankenreiter moved to Kauai, diversifying his instrument base to include ones representative of Hawaiian
culture - the ukulele, slack key guitar and lap steel. The appropriately namedRevisitedserved as a revitalized version of
his 2004 effort, fused with the Hawaiian instruments and a feel-good, tropical vibe.
"The reality is that surfing is
my first love. For a long time, it was my life - I made a living at it starting when I was 16 years old, and it took me all
around the world. But it's vastly different than doing music. If I call up a buddy to surf, there can be a moment of clarity,
but if I get a wave that's really incredible and try to convey that feeling to someone else, they may not be able to relate.
But my wife - or anyone - can see me on stage playing and really feel what I'm feeling. It's magical, there's so much togetherness,"
