About The Artist
Aubrey Drake Graham (better known by his stage name Drake) was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1986
and has risen through the ranks of entertainment to become one of the most lauded performers in the hip hop scene today. While
growing up in Toronto Drake found a part on the television series "Degrassi: the Next Generation" where he appeared in over
100 episodes. But Drake found his true calling with hip hop and began releasing a series of mixtapes starting in 2006 with
"Room for Improvement", following that up with two more, culminating with "So Far Gone", the most successful of all his EP's.
His debut album, "Thank Me Later" released in 2010 to critical acclaim, debuting at number one and selling almost 500,000
copies in it's first week. He has since released two more studio albums "Take Care" and "Nothing Was The Same" that have gone
on to see great success, garnering Drake awards and accolades alike.
After being in
a combined total of 138 episodes of the hit show "Degrassi: The next generation", Drake was trying to break into the music
scene by recording and releasing a string of mixtapes. Little did Drake know that these would help his career explode into
the famous one that it is today. Drake self-released his debut mixtape "Room for Improvement" in 2006, featuring the artists
Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz, but he hit it big with his second mixtape in 2007 "Comeback Season" that found success all over.
The tape spawned the hit single "Replacement Girl" which was given a music video that was featured on BET despite Drake not
even being signed. As difficult as it may have seemed, Drake topped all of this with his third mixtape "So Far Gone" that
was so popular that it became his first EP.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, it's not
surprising that Drake would find something local to be a part of now that he has the status to take part in things that he
wants, which is exactly why he's a part of the Toronto Raptors. It was in late 2013 that Drake was announced to join up in
association with the Toronto Raptoers, not as a player, but as the Global Ambassador. A full time job, Drake has been given
a staff to help him in any rebranding of the team and their image for the coming 20th anniversary that will be taking place
during the 2014-2015 season. This is a large position that Drake isn't taking lightly, stating that he will take this very
seriously and do what he can to make the right choices.
