Drenge Background

Brothers Rory and Eoin Loveless grew up listening to the music of the Black Keys and the White Stripes in their hometown of the English village of Castleton. While in their mid-teens,the siblings founded the band, Drenge (borrowed from the Danish word for "boys"). Eoin plays the lead guitar and vocals while Rory is on drums. Their edgy, grunge-influenced blues pop sound was farmed from their surroundings and their wish to get away from it. Pulling from similar themes of angst and monotony, the brothers issued a string of singles during 2013.

Unexpectedly, the Loveless boys found themselves in the headlines following the resignation of Labour MP Tom Watson from the Shadow Cabinet in July 2013. Watson put his resignation letter on his blog that said, "be that great Labour leader that you can be, but try to have a real life too. And if you want to see an awesome band, I recommend Drenge."

The pair set out on an exhaustive tour schedule that year as well, which included appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Latitude.

Their debut eponymous album came out in 2013. Today, Drenge continues to tour, taking their original music to the stage at some of the world's most notable festivals and venues.

Drenge Album Hits

Drenge's eponymous album was put out in August of 2013 on Infectious Records. Their tunes include: Dogmeat, I Wanna Break You in Half and People in Love Make Me Feel Yuck.

Drenge Trivia

Brothers Eoin and Rory Loveless were deeply moved by the England vs. Argentina World Cup Soccer match that took place in 1998. This experience gave them the motivation to pen their own music and entertain audiences with their signature sound. They originally hail from the Peak District in England but gig and record in Sheffield. Their authentic band name was mined from their passion for all things Danish. Translated, the word means "boys." This term describes the musicians to a T. With baby faces, they play their hardcore, edgy indie pop rock that invites audiences to scream and cringe simultaneously.

Although the word, "drenge," has a childlike meaning, the siblings liked it because it has an "ugly and vicious" sound that perfectly depicted the type of music they were writing and playing.
