Dum Dum Girls tickets - Dum Dum Girls tour dates

Dum Dum Girls Schedule

The stellar musicians, Dum Dum Girls, became popular when groups like the Vivian Girls were popular. Their lo-fi brand of pop is also likened to Dolly Mixture and Black Tambourine. The Dum Dum Girls officially inked a contract with Sub Pop in 2009, and since their debut Sub Pop track, "Jail La La" came out in 2010, they continue to become more and more popular.

The Dum Dum Girls peddle an authentic sound all their own, and at the same time, have been influenced by a huge base of other musicians from 1980's rockers to doo-wop musicians. They mesh all of their inspirations to craft a sound that has captured the attention of fans and critics alike. The indie pop scene gives artists like the Dum Dum Girls the wiggle room they need to spread their wings.

The best way to experience the music of the Dum Dum Girls is of course, at a live show. All you need to do to go to one of their concerts is to check out StubHub in advance for tickets. StubHub serves as your one-stop shop for getting all the information you need upfront - from venue details to seating charts to full concert listings, StubHub has you covered.

Dum Dum Girls Background

The Dum Dum Girls originally started out as the bedroom recording effort of Dee Dee Penny. But the project quickly evolved to become a massive success on the indie music scene. Dee Dee's success stemmed from not only her gift of singing but from her innate penchant for songwriting. Drawing on her own experiences, she was able to pen meaningful and nostalgic lyrics. She said, "The first record was basically the first songs I'd ever written, and I was thinking nostalgically about being a teenager. This record, it was pretty much impossible not to write about very recent, very real things." The album Dee Dee references is the Dum Dum Girls' sophomore album, Only in Dreams, which was released in 2011. Dee Dee certainly had enough real things to write about. Several of her songs touched on the heartache she experienced after her mother's death while other songs unraveled the emotions felt from being separated from a loved one. This was something Dee Dee was all too familiar with as her husband, also a musician, was often on the road as well. "Just about all the songs reflect the fact that I'd been on the road for about a year, pretty much separate from everything real in my life except the band. A lot of it is about distance and detachment."

In 2012, their End of Daze EP dropped. Pitchfork gave the EP the "Best New Music" title and also awarded its lead-off track, "Lord Knows," with "Best New Track." Dee Dee has also lent her talents to a number of collaborations. She issued a self-titled single as The Mayfair Set, where she pairs up with Mike Sniper of Blank Dogs. She also worked with Tamaryn on the song "Teenage Lust," a song originally done by The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Too True, their third full-length effort, arrived in early 2014. Dee Dee credited Madonna, Suede, Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Stone Roses as her inspirations for this album.
