Durham Bulls Schedule

Just one look at the schedule and you'll see what all the buzz is about, as this is a team that routinely plays the very best teams in Minor League Baseball each and every season, bringing together a steady plethora of the stars of both today and tomorrow. From veterans trying to add to their game to rising stars looking to make a name for themselves, this is a ball club that can do a little bit of everything, and it doesn't hurt that the ghosts of Crash Davis and Nuke LaLoosh watch over the franchise. The Bulls frequently go up against some of the very best players in Minor League Baseball, though they have plenty of talent of their own and always seem to be in the middle of one star-studded matchup or another.

Durham Bulls Team Info

As the farm team of the Tampa Bay Rays, this is a team that definitely has its fair share of talent from season to season, though that's not something you're really going to understand until you head out to see them for yourself. Though we know that Major League Baseball is great, don't forget about the Minor Leaguers either, as these guys can play too and are known to light up the scoreboard in a real hurry. There has never been a better time to come out and see an exciting matchup loaded talented players who can change the dynamic of a big game in a real hurry, and you'll end up with the perfect slice of America's Pastime.

Durham Bulls Baseball Experience

Though things have changed quite a bit since the early days, as baseball dates all the way back to the 9th century, the game is still as exciting as ever, as Minor League Baseball routinely brings together some of the most skilled ballplayers in the world to battle it out on the diamond in a game that is sure to be filled with bench-gripping moments that you'll be talking about a long time after the final pitch. As the Bulls look to put together another memorable season, there are plenty of options that will pit the Bulls against some of the very best teams in the Minor Leagues, giving you many excuses to head out for a day or night of baseball that you won't soon forget.

Durham Bulls History

When Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins got together in 1988 looking to make a baseball classic, the Durham Bulls were the natural fit. Telling the stories of ballplayers working their way through the Minor Leagues, "Bull Durham" didn't take long to become the classic Costner and Robbins intended, with so many quotes that it's impossible to keep them all straight. These days, the popularity around the Durham Bulls remains as viable as ever, as they continue to put on a show each and every season for the baseball fans of Durham, North Carolina, a great little sports town that knows how to support the local teams.

Of course, it helps that professional baseball in Durham began in 1902 (with the Durham Tobacconists) and has since gone through many name and location changes, including a stint as the Raleigh-Durham Triangles. Today, the Bulls are the affiliate of the Major League Tampa Bay Rays, a squad that has developed a reputation as being one of the best teams in the league just about every single year despite playing in the same division as the Yankees and the Red Sox. Since moving into the AAA in 1998, the Durham Bulls have appeared in the Governors' Cup, the International League's championship, four different times and you never know when they're going to get all the way back to the top of the league.

Durham Bulls Trivia

Did you know that Durham Bulls were originally the Durham Tobacconists?

All the way back in 1902, when this franchise was originally founded, they were known as the Tobacconists, a moniker they played under until the 60s when they finally switched to the Raleigh-Durham Mets. Then they made the switch to being the Durham Bulls in the 70s – a name that has since become iconic thanks to the steady stream of talented players that have come through the roster.

Durham Bulls Fans

The Bulls play their home games at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, which has a capacity of more than 10,000 screaming Bulls' fans for the biggest games of the season. This is a team that has deep roots with the local community, and there isn't a more family-friendly atmosphere than a night of baseball featuring the Durham Bulls. When you're there in the middle of a game that could go either way, you'll definitely be glad that you're not sitting anywhere else, as this is a sport that springs to a completely different level when you get a chance to see the drama unfold before your very eyes alongside thousands of other fans.
