About the Artist
Dwight Yoakam has been a fixture on the country music
scene since 1984. He tried his hand at a career in Nashville but the scene there at the time was not very receptive to his
honky tonk style and instead was interested more in pop country. Yoakam decided to pack it up and move to Los Angeles where
he played shows with bands as divergent as X, Los Lobos, and The Blasters. He recorded a debut EP that he paid for by himself
titled, Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. which contained six songs that later appeared on his 1986 major label debut of the
same name. The album contained two hit singles and his song Honky Tonk Man off of the album became the first country song
ever to be played on MTV. Yoakam has branched out into an acting career, appearing in several movies and films including Panic
Room, Hollywood Homicide, Crank, Crank 2: High Voltage, King of the Hill, Wilfred, and others. He has recorded thirteen albums
to date, Hillbilly Deluxe, This Time, A Long Way Home, and 2012's 3 Pears among them. Dwight Yoakam continues to to tour and
record albums and stands as one of the dominant, looming figures in modern country music.
his debut album, Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., and the follow up Hillbilly Deluxe were hits in the country world and among
members of the Los Angeles scene in which Dwight Yoakam developed, it was not really until his third album was released that
Yoakam really started to become the country icon that he is today. Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room contained Yoakam's first
hit single, Streets of Bakersfield on which he did a duet with Buck Owens, one of his childhood heroes. He continues to release
hit record after hit record and collaborates with a diverse group of performers including Beck, Michelle Branch, Ashley Monroe,
and Kid Rock. He has branched out stylistically to record songs not typical to the country style including punk, boogie, hard
rock and more.
You have been waiting for months if not years for this night to come and
