Moran began his life and career in Navan, County Meath, Ireland, where attended St. Patrick's Classical School. Even as a child he began experimenting with standup, and by the age of 16, he had left school to try his luck at a career in comedy. He stumbled a bit at first, but by the age of 20, he was started to find his groove. He won the So You Think You're Funny award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1993, and went on to become the youngest person to win the Perrier Comedy Award at the festival in 1996. He began his first tour Gurgling for Money the following year, and was met by receptive comedy fans wherever he went. Around the same time he began trying his luck at acting, landing a small role in the BBC 2 sitcom How Do You Want Me? in 1998. The following year he was cast in a small part in the Julia Roberts' movie Notting Hill, and in 2000, he helped launch a television show of his own creation called Black Books. With the aid of a co-writer and producers, he was able to see his series make it three seasons. Moran then went on to star in the cult classic film Shaun of the Dead, that became an instant success. And although the comic was seeing a lot of success with his acting gigs, he missed the stand-up life. He went back out on the road in 2004, touring with his Monster I and Monster II shows. The Times called is a "masterclass of comic charisma&" Moran has now built a solid following, and has become one of the most sought-after performers in the world.
