It seems as though in the hip hop scene, and the music scene in general, that artists can rise and fall in a matter of months and weeks, making it a big deal when an artist such as E-40 managed to continually exceed expectations and deliver the biggest and best hip hop and rap for well over a decade. Making his name in the world of music with his brilliant west coast rap and entrepreneurial spirit, E-40 is easily one of the most recognized and celebrated rap artists of our time, and he continues to bring the kind of hip hop that people will be listening to years from now. He is not only celebrated for his rhymes and rap ability, but his live shows are something of a legend as they are almost too incredible to believe. With one show at the end of December 2013 in Los Angeles and one in early January 2014 in Santa Cruz, E-40 will blow your mind and have you coming back for more with his live show. About The Artist

Born in 1967 Vallejo, California, Earl Stevens (better known by his stage name E-40) is one of the most talented and well respected rappers in the game today, and with his extensive discography touting a plethora of hits there is no question why. He started out as a member of rap group "The Click" but slowly began to work on his solo work, starting with 1993's "Federal" and 1995's "In a Major Way". "In A Major Way" was a hit with the Bay area and was the first step towards making it to the top. He continued on releasing albums such as "The Hall of Game", "The element of Surprise", "Loyalty & Betrayal", and more, while throughout much of the 2000's he was hosting a weekly radio show in San Francisco. While starting out as more of a local and regional star, he has risen to prominence both through his stellar albums and by working with more mainstream artists.

Breakthrough Songs/Album

E-40 has been a major force in the world of rap practically from the moment that he entered it, although he wouldn't be nationally recognized until a few years later. His initial entries off "Federal", "In A Major Way", and "Southwest Riders" were all solid and helped raise awareness of the Bay area rap master, but it wouldn't be until signing with a major label and began releasing particular singles in the mid 2000's that he really began to take off as a majorly recognized rapper. His rise to national prominence seems to have started with the single "Tell Me When To Go", which gained him a spot on shows on MTV and BET. Another single he released, "U and Dat" featuring T-Pain and Kandi Girl, was also a big hit, helped by the fact that it was produced by Lil Jon, a huge name at that point in time. After these singles began to fuel the fire of mainstream awareness of E-40, he continued to hit it big with the album "My Ghetto Report Card" which debuted at #1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and making it into the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 200.

E-40 Trivia

While E-40's entrepreneurial spirit has shown through with his record label that he would release his albums on early on in his career, he has actually invested time, effort, and money into other projects as well. Along with investing money in businesses like Microsoft and opening up a Fatburger restaurant in California, E-40 has written a book, is the spokesperson for Landy Cognac, and opened up a nightclub in downtown San Jose. Most recently he has started up his own brand of energy drinks called "40 Water" and has opened up a Wingstop in the Bay area.
