Heavy, lush and melodic, the nearly all-instrumental music of Earth has been one of the best-kept secrets in music since
the early 1990s. This Seattle-based band has been championing the genre of drone doom, an offshoot of doom metal characterized
by heavy distorted droning, minimalist, lengthy and repetitive structures. Get your Earth concert

Born out of the musically fertile lands of Seattle, Earth came together in 1989 under the direction of guitarist Dylan
Carson. Carson envisioned a band intently focused on forging a new, progressive musical path, and some argue that focus was
so severe he forgot to write lyrics. But those who've listened to Earth know lyrics would only get in the way of the profound
sonic sounds, and words can't describe the penetrating music Carson and company offer up.
In a time when so many musicians labor over constructing a paradigm-perfect song top to bottom, Earth wanted to set only
a skeletal platform for its music and make the rest up as they went along. They worked tirelessly to solidify their sound,
but each song goes in a new direction, one even the band members didn't expect, making their music a seamless fusion of metal
and jazz, improvisation of epic proportions.
After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, Earth reunited to build upon its earlier work and bring its sound up to date.
Taking their groundbreaking work from the first albums, they held onto their drone-based, slow-paced and lengthy music but
also introduced a drummer and incorporated elements of jazz, country music and English folk songs. Without a doubt, there
is no question there isn't another band out there like Earth. Get your rock
