East Carolina Pirates Football Road Games

East Carolina Pirates Football Road Schedule in 2014

The East Carolina Pirates are set for another big season, and 2014 could be a huge campaign for this program. The Pirates will take on some of the best teams in the sport of college football, but they seem to have a roster that could push them to the top this season. The Pirates are a part of the new American Athletic Conference, as this is their first season in the AAC. The team played well in 2013 in what was their final season as a member of Conference USA. The Pirates were able to win 10 games last season, and six times they defeated their Conference USA foes, which was a great way to close things out in that league. Now the Pirates turn their attention to their new conference, and with it a whole new group of conference rivals. This team has to play some good opponents on the road in 2014, and they're going to leave it all out on the field in order to get any many victories as possible.

The Pirates will have a tough contest on their hands when they travel to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, OH to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Bearcats often have some of the top players in the college football player pool, and that means they're usually pretty tough to take down, especially at home. The Pirates will do everything they can to leave Cincinnati with a victory, but it's going to be a real battle on the field.

East Carolina will close out their road schedule this season on November 28th when they head out to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tulsa usually has a tough squad that is equipped with an electric offense, and that could very well be the case yet again in 2014. The Pirates will look to leave the Tulsa campus with a big victory against a new conference foe. Make sure to be there for this matchup.

East Carolina Pirates Football History

The East Carolina Pirates have been competing in college football since 1932, when the program was first formed. The Pirates always recruit well and seem to have some great players each and every season. The Pirates started out as an independent team before becoming a member of the North State Conference in 1947. The team left that league early in the 1960s and were independent again for a time before heading to the Southern Conference in 1965. The Pirates were a part of the Southern Conference for 12 years before returning to independent status. They joined Conference USA in 1997, where they resided until 2014 when they became a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Pirates have had consistent success over the years, enough so to earn them a winning percentage over.500 over the course of their entire history. East Carolina has been able to secure a bowl game berth 18 times over the years, winning eight of those contests. The Pirates have won their conference's title seven times, two of those coming in Conference USA in the 2000s. 20 players on the East Carolina roster over the years have been able to become All-Americans. The team will look to add to their history this season with a fantastic year.

Fan Experience

While seeing a game at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium is always great, road games are fantastic in an entirely different way. Game away from home have a totally different energy to them, and it makes for an exciting atmosphere for visiting fans. The Pirates will be taking to fields all over the country this season, and winning on the road is never easy. However, when the players know that they're being supported by their own fans in an opposing stadium it has the chance to make them perform better. College football is a game that is meant to be seen in person, and that's why throngs of fans flock to stadiums all over the nation each and every season. Join the biggest Pirates fans on the road this season and enjoy a great away game.
